Computational Social Sciences Research Seminar (8 ECTS)
This course will guide students through the pipeline of conducting research in historical psychology, from the building blocks of natural language processing, studying preregistration, and writing a manuscript. Students learn to perform sentiment analyses of modern textual sources from the internet, such as movies and books, and online reviews of these media and others, such as video games, music, etc. Furthermore, students learn to analyze historical sources such as fiction works from the past and test hypotheses about how the expression of psychological traits in culture is impacted by historical events and socio-economic dynamics.

Introduction to Computational Social Sciences (4 ECTS)
This course will cover how to use natural language processing tools to analyze the content of large numbers of texts automatically. After this course, students will be able to perform sentiment analyses of modern textual sources from the internet, and historical sources such as fiction works (movies and books) from the past. Students will be able to quantify the temporal change of values and preferences expressed in these textual sources and its relationship to historical events and socio-economic dynamics.

Political Psychology (6 ECTS)
This course will give an overview into the history and dynamics of political systems. We will begin by examining how political systems form and evolve, how they transmit information, and how they build knowledge. With insights from cognitive- and neuro- sciences, we will also see how they create ‘moral communities’, broad social agreements on what is right and wrong, and true or false.
